On behalf of the 730 staff serving our 14 schools, we wish you and your family all the best for the coming school year. Our division’s motto is Together we learn. We work with parents and our communities to nurture and sustain excellent schools where children become active and ethical citizens. 

We’ve prepared this guide to help new and returning students and their families get ready for school. The first day of school is August 30. Our school offices will be open before the first day to register students and answer questions. Please see the chart below for details. We look forward to seeing you!

  • Spring break - Mar 26 to 29 *Note March 30 is Good Friday and April 2 is Easter Monday
  • No school - Oct 6, Oct 20, Nov 13, Nov 20, Jan 31, Mar 5, Mar 16, Apr 13, May 18 (includes PD days)     
  • Last day of school - June 28

When does the school office open in the fall?

Our school offices will be open to register students and answer your questions according to this schedule.
If you have questions in the meantime, please feel free to call our Regional Office in Barrhead at 780.674.8500. Note: our office will be closed July 17 to 28.

Schools will contact parents of Kindergarten students before school starts with full details of their child's schedule. 

We also operate two schools serving the Pibroch and Sunny Bend Hutterite Colonies. We are proud to be the home of the Alberta Distance Learning Centre which provides distance learning courses to 40,000 students in Grades 1 to 12 across Alberta.

  • Child's birth certificate or proof of citizenship
