trustee biographies

Annette Bokenfohr, Trustee Westlock South
I was born, raised and worked in Edmonton until I married my husband Loran in 1993.  That was when I recognized all the virtues of living on a farm and having wonderful communities surrounding us. We have lived in the Busby area since 1997 and have five terrific children.  Three girls and two boys. I ran for the position of school board trustee in the 2010 election.  I wanted to speak on behalf of the students, parents, and teachers, to be their voice. I have been fortunate enough to be entrusted with that responsibility.  I am proud to be a part of the Pembina Hills Public Schools and I will do my best to ensure Success for all Students.

Jackie Comeau, Trustee Westlock North
I have lived in the Dapp/Linaria area for most of my life. Both of my children have attended school at Dapp, Jarvie, and R. F. Staples. I am married to Brad Comeau. My oldest daughter, Krista, is a teacher in Parkland County and has also taught internationally in Abu Dhabi. My youngest Daughter, Kaitlyn, has just started high school in Westlock at R. F. Staples. I have worked at Barrhead Elementary School, Linaria School, and for the past 15 years I have worked at R. F. Staples as a Program Assistant. I have served as chairperson on the Dapp and Jarvie school councils on two separate terms. As you can see, I have been involved with education through my family and work for a long time and am very excited to be given this opportunity to serve the voters of Westlock North for the next four years.

Jan Hoffart, Trustee Town of Westlock
I have been a resident of Westlock for the past 20 years.  My husband, Steve, and I raised our daughter here.  We also have two adult sons and two gorgeous granddaughters.  Over the years, I have been a classroom teacher from preschool to Grade 8, a special education teacher, an AISI team leader, a literacy consultant and a Pilates instructor.  I am passionate about education and the success of all students.  As a lifelong learner, I am proud and excited to be a part of the Pembina Hills Public Schools Board.

Judy Lefebvre, Trustee Town of Barrhead
My name is Judy Lefebvre and I am the trustee for the Town of Barrhead.  I have lived in Barrhead since 1980.  I am married to Ray Lefebvre, and we have three adult children, all of whom attended and graduated from Lorne Jenken High School in Barrhead.  Our son, Dean, is a power engineer for Whitecourt Power; our oldest daughter, Nicole, has her own business, Safety Innovations in Edmonton; and our youngest daughter, Jolene, is a Program Assistant at Barrhead Elementary School.  I retired from my teaching career in 2011 after 43 years in the field of education, with experiences ranging from being a classroom teacher of all grades K to 9, an assistant principal for 10 years, and a divisional coordinator for AISI projects for 10 years.  I am looking forward to the continued opportunity to serve our students, parents, teachers and community as a school trustee.

Jennifer Tuininga, Trustee Barrhead North, Board chair
My family and I are table egg producers and grain farmers in the Neerlandia area. I have two children who attend Neerlandia Public Christian School and Barrhead Composite High School. I am in my first term as a school trustee and have served in the school setting as a pre-school teacher, parent volunteer, on the school council executive, and as an enthusiastic junior high girls basketball coach. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences, a Bachelor of Recreation Studies degree, as well as my certification as a Child Development Worker. I have been actively involved in my local community in positions that involve planning, budgeting, and leadership. I am honoured to serve the electors of Barrhead North and be a positive representative for them at the board table.

Sheri Watson, Trustee Town of Swan Hills, Vice chair
Hi Everyone! My name is Sheri Watson. Swan Hills has been my home for 15 years. My husband Daryn and I are raising five children, four of whom have graduated from the Swan Hills School. Our youngest son is currently attending senior high at Swan Hills School. I've worn many hats over the years: Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, Canada Post Employee and member of the library board, parent council, and Community Matters Committee, just to name a few. I'm excited to be able to return as Trustee for the Swan Hills area for a second term. I very much believe in being a part of the voice of public education and the PHPS Board, and I look forward to making our voices heard.

Kim Webster, Trustee Barrhead South
I grew up in a big family, on a dairy farm by Pickardville, AB. After I finished High School, I attended Bible College and Lakeland College, and I believed I was permanently done with school. That was until I realized my children would be in school for many years and those years would greatly impact their lives. Now, as a wife to Brent and a parent to 5 incredible children, I am very interested in our education system. In 2007, I became a school trustee. That interest has become a passion for all children locally and provincially.  Apart from my time as a wife, parent and school trustee, I have a housecleaning business. For fun, I love to read and to spend time with friends and family.
