Why we wear pink on Feb. 22

You will see a lot of pink in our schools and buildings on Feb. 22 as students and staff across Pembina Hills Public Schools wear pink shirts to symbolize that they do not tolerate bullying.

Learn more about Pink Shirt Day

Two high school students in Nova Scotia started Pink Shirt Day in 2007. After witnessing a boy being bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school, David Shepherd and Travis Price distributed pink shirts t-shirts to the boys at their school. The boys wore the shirts to school in solidarity with the student who had been harassed.

On Feb. 22, we will wear pink and we will make an effort to practice kindness and acceptance towards others.
Pink Shirt Day is now an annual anti-bullying event in Canada.
